10 Days Old

Isaac and Sophia 10 days old, March 5, 2009. Today was a big day. Isaac moved into a room right next to Sophia's and there is only a curtain separating them that we can keep open. Isaac also is only on a nasal canula now. Sophia still has her nasal canula, but if she has a good night, might be off it tomorrow and breathing on her very own! They are very content to be close to one another again. This weekend hopefully Matt and I will be able to hold both of them at the same time! Praise God for all the blessings he has shown us these past 10 days. They truly are miracles from Him. He has kept His hand upon them...

Ice Cream Sundaes

Matt was on call on Saturday, the 21st. The girls and I had fun making ice cream sundaes. We pulled out all the stops, marshmallow creme, sprinkles galore, chocolate syrup, coconut, nerds candy, you name it (any sweet) and we probably added it to our sundaes that night! Lots of fun!

Valentine's Day (A Little Late)

Pictures of the girls in their Valentine's Day outfits. This was taken around February 14th, I am just finally getting around to posting it.

Diapers???

These are the diapers that they are using for Sophia and Isaac. I put them next to a $5 bill so you could get an idea of their size. Sophia's is the "bigger" one and Isaac's is the little one. Please take note and go back to especially Isaac's pictures and notice how far down his little knees his diaper goes, and mind you, when we put his diaper on, we are even folding it over a couple of times. Pretty tiny...didn't know they came this small!

Update on Isaac and Sophia February 28th

I might just try to keep the updates here, so check back often. I think that trying to set up an entire new blog for them, might be a little much for me right now! Matt and I went up to see Isaac and Sophia this morning. They both had good nights. Sophia has moved into her "condo" or otherwise known as her warmer which is a great sign. She is also off her c-pap and only on a nasal cannula. When we arrived, they were just getting ready to switch him from the oscillating ventilator to a conventional ventilator. They did this and he wasn't sedated like he was yesterday. His color looked a lot better. I even got to pick him up while the nurse changed his bedding. He opened his eyes as well. All encouraging signs.

Sophia and Isaac-Born on February 23rd!

You may have heard our good news! Sophia Kathryn and Isaac Joseph Arthur made their appearance on February 23rd at 10:46 p.m. and 10:47p.m. Sophia weighed 4 lbs. 11oz. and Isaac weighed 2 lbs. 6 1/2 oz. I am home now recovering and they remain in the NICU getting stronger. As you may imagine things are changing on sometimes an hourly basis for us. So, in an effort to keep everyone up to date, I am going to try and set up a blog for them that you can take a peek at, hoping to keep people updated as much as possible that way. Right now, Sophia is doing well and eating like a champ. In fact, she throws little temper tantrums about an hour before she is ready to eat, just to let them know she is waiting. Matt and I both got to hold her for the first time a couple of days ago. Isaac was struggling with his breathing on Thursday and by Thursday night they had put him on an oscillating ventilator. He is heavily sedated right now, and getting the rest he needs to have the strength he needs. Yesterday they did a head ultrasound and it was normal. They are also taking a closer look at his heart. He was cleared to receive a medication that will hopefully close one of his ducts that is not closing on its own. They administered that first round of it last night. We have not called up to see how their night went yet. Matt and I will head up there this morning for a couple of hours. Please continue to pray for our family. God is so good and it is so wonderful to see His creation! Pray for the medical teams that are caring for our babies and pray for the girls as they transition. Pray for health and healing for both Sophia and Isaac. I humbly ask these things in the name of God's son Jesus.

God is so Good!

Today we had another appointment for the babes. We again were blessed with another week. Today I am 31 1/2 weeks. It has been a long journey and one that we could not have travelled without our amazing God and friends, family and even strangers around the country praying for our family and the health of these babies. Next week we will do another doppler and fluid check, if that is still stable, we will proceed for another week. At 33 1/2 weeks, they will do another full growth ultrasound and as long as both babies continue to grow, we will proceed one more week. At that point, we will than schedule a C-section and our little blessings will be here. We have been so humbled these past few weeks by God's incredible mercy on us as well as all those who have prayed and helped out in whatever way possible. THANK YOU! We will let you know when Isaac and Sophia arrive. Please continue to pray. Psalm 139:13 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." We know and have faith that God is in control and has shown us His great power and miracles these past weeks especially. Our children are His.
